Frederic Arnal: from computer engineering to art

2016-09-08

'Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for'.

This beautiful quote from the movie "Dead Poets Society" perfectly introduces the story of Frederic Arnal, a French guy born in Alsace and current Director of Louise Alexander Gallery.

Passionate about Roman and Greek art since he was a boy, he worked in an antiques store until he turned 18. Then he studied computer engineering and got an important job in the field.

At a certain point, however, the old passions began to come up from the past and Frederic came to the decision to put everything aside and dedicate his life to art. Then, he started traveling around the world together with his wife Ayse, organizing a huge number of art exhibitions especially in Moscow and Paris.

Then, in 2007/2008 he decided to bring culture in Porto Cervo, when the Promenade still was at its first stage.

Now the Louise Alexander Gallery (with the artworks by Arik Levy, Martìnez Celaya, Guy Bourdin) is one of the fundamental points of the Promenade, although it reflects the nomadic spirit of Frederic and Ayse who, guided by the seasons, are always around the world to look for new artists to be discovered and places to explore.
