Antonio Forcione is an Italian guitarist, composer and performer. He started recording in 1983 and has appeared on dozens of albums. It has been said that Forcione is “probably the best acoustic guitar player in the world” he is certainly up there with Tommy Emmanuel in terms of technique and sheer musical eloquence, his playing shares the same fire, passion and inspiration, though Forcione tends towards more jazz (especially gypsy style) and south American influenced styles of playing. Forcione originally studied percussion, before switching to the guitar. This influence and ability is clear in his playing, which exhibits strong and complex rhythms as well as considerable use of the guitar body for percussive effect. His albums are all worthy additions to any acoustic music collection, however the stand out ones are generally agreed to be Meet me in London and Dedicato. Talking Hands with Neil Stacey is also worth investigating.
